How do you open up speakers?
Hi, I have a Phillips FW-C577 system, and the tweeters in my speakers are either blown or have a bad connection and I need to open up them up to fix them.
I have already taken off the screw-in back plate but have no way to get in from here.
Can anyone help me?
I don't believe those are meant to be opened up. They probably don't have removable grills either. You either have to cut the grill material if the drivers are front mounted or have to pry apart the box if the drivers are rear mounted. It wouldn't be worth replacing the tweeters because it would cost more to repair them than what they are worth. Any speaker that doesn't have a removable grill or panel to access the drivers is as bottom of the line as speakers can get. The chances of a bad connection in both/all speakers is not very likely. Blown tweeters is more of a possibility but they never blow exactly simultaneously. I always recommend looking for a good set of used speakers before shelling out money on new ones.
